COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Lord Waddles, Meownnaise and Midsize Sedan are among the nominees for Nationwide’s Wacky Pet Names contest this year.
The central Ohio-based insurance agency is once again asking the public to vote for their favorite monikers among three categories including dogs, cats and exotic pets, according to a news release from the company.

This year’s group of uncommon pets is comprised of a Macaw, a guinea pig, a snake, a tortoise, a mini pig, a tegu lizard, two ferrets and a pair of rabbits.
The snake — called Boop Noodle — hails from Liberty Township. His contest bio gives some background on his name.
“He is so cute that you just want to ‘boop’ him on the nose!” owner Douglas S. told Nationwide about his scaly friend. “Plus, he is shaped like a noodle because he is long and skinny.”

Additionally, Nationwide provided the following tips for choosing a pet’s name:
• Use hard consonants and vowels. These are easier for pets to hear and respond to.
• Consider a nickname for any names longer than one or two syllables.
• Avoid names that sound like commands. Subtle differences in sounds confuse pets.
• Test it to make sure you are comfortable saying the name loudly in public.
