'Music on the Diamond': Country star Miranda Lambert coming to AutoZone Park in Memphis

Country singer Miranda Lambert is a major league star, but she will be making a special appearance at Memphis’ minor league home, headlining a Sept. 28 concert at Downtown’s AutoZone Park.

The Lambert concert was announced Monday as part of “Music on the Diamond,” a nationwide concert series featuring “top artists performing against the backdrop of iconic Minor League ballparks.”

Lambert — a three-time Grammy award winner and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year — will be the first musician to headline AutoZone Park for a full-scale concert since Bob Dylan in 2013.

“Music on the Diamond” is an initiative developed by Diamond Baseball Holdings, the company that owns and operates the Redbirds. In a release announcing the event, the company said the series will provide "fans with an unparalleled opportunity to witness their favorite stars in a uniquely intimate atmosphere, such as nestled amidst the downtown Memphis skyline.”

AutoZone Park serves as home to the Triple-A baseball team the Memphis Redbirds, as well as Memphis 901 FC of the USL Championship. Nearly 13 million fans have passed through its gates since the venue opened in the spring of 2000.

“Our goal is to continue to bring unique events to the city of Memphis and make AutoZone Park a 365-day venue,” said Craig Unger, Redbirds president and general manager, in a statement announcing the show. “Hosting an artist at the caliber of Miranda Lambert is something we are very proud of, and we are excited for the opportunity to bring her concert to the Mid-South.”

Tickets for the Miranda Lambert concert will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26. Special pre-sale events — for Lambert fan club members, Redbirds season ticket holders and more — will begin on Tuesday.
