The protagonist of the series, Rudeus, was devoured in a storm because of the Mana Calamity teleportation incident towards the end of Mushoku Tensei Season 1. Even so, the protagonist was fortunate enough to find most of his family and friends. However, another great misfortune occurred while finding his mother, Zenith Greyrat. He lost his father, Paul Greyrat.
How does Paul Greyrat die in Mushoku Tensei?
This takes at the end of volume 12 of the Mushoku Tensei manga. Rudeus told his younger sisters Aisha and Lilia to live with their father after he learned about Zenith’s location from Talhand. However, Paul sent them back to live with their brother. He decided to step up and save his wife while keeping them out of danger. Norn was against his thought of trains.
Rudeus arrived with Elinalise and found Paul in a horrible state. He was disturbed over something he did while being under the influence of a succubus. He couldn’t comprehend that Rudeus was standing in front of him. However, he informed Paul about his child which snapped him back to reality. He was surprised to hear that he married Sylphy and how quickly the two arrived.
He told them about Zenith’s location. She was trapped inside a labyrinth. As they descended the maze, they were able to save Roxy who was also caught in a teleportation trap sometime before Rudeus and Elinalise arrived. After searching around for a while, they found the room where Zenith was entrapped. She was trapped inside a giant mana crystal being guarded by a hydra.
After an intense fight, they’re able to overwhelm the Hydra. However, the fight cost Rudeus his arm and Paul was snapped in half as he tried to save his son from the hydra’s final attack. He had a soft expression on his face before losing his final breath. Rudeus was very reluctant to cremate his corpse. He took some of his belongings from the corpse. He placed a piece of his bone inside a burial urn he created.
