On Tuesday night (May 21), the Recording Academy hosted its inaugural GRAMMY Hall Of Fame Gala and Concert, recognizing the 2024 inductees.

The night began with a VIP reception on the Ray Charles Terrace at the GRAMMY Museum in downtown Los Angeles. Honorees, their families, and additional esteemed guests mingled and reconnected ahead of the festivities. As the sunset, the crowd was ushered from the rooftop, next door to the Novo for the ceremony.  Honorees were seated on the first floor of the venue while additional viewing was provided in the balcony for ticketholders.

At two tables near the stage, Ms. Lauryn Hill and her family were seated, proudly awaiting the singer’s moment as Hill’s acclaimed debut album The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill joins the thousands of iconic recordings enshrined in the Hall of Fame. To honor the work, Andra Day took the stage, performing the track “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.” Seated on a stool center stage, the vocalist performed a heartwarming, joyful rendition of the loving song.

“Lauryn I love you my whole heart my whole career my greatest inspiration,” Andra Day shared with Ms. Lauryn Hill as her performance concluded. “We love you.”  The entire room stood on their feet, serenading an emotional Ms. Hill with applause.

The night was filled with history, culture, and reverence for musicians and industry leaders of the past, present, and future. Additional performances came from Andra Day, who also took the stage to pay homage to Donna Summer with “I Feel Love,” Ravyn Lenae delivering Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly,” Elle King singing Wanda Jackson’s “Let’s Have A Party,” *HANSON presenting the Doobie Brothers’ “What A Fool Believes,” The War and Treaty singing “Charley Pride’s “Kiss An Angel Good Morning,” and Shinedown performing Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven.”

Legendary singer William Bell also performed to a standing ovation. The 84-year-old delivered a stunning, soulful performance of his classic record “You Don’t Miss Your Water,” an ode to his hometown, Memphis, TN.
