"We want them to keep in touch. It's too big of a coincidence not to," June's mother Sophie Clark said of the two newborns

Both members of one of country music's most famous couples were accidentally honored on the same day in an Alabama hospital!

Moms Sophie Clark and Nicole Davis each gave birth on April 10 at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children in Huntsville, and coincidentally named their respective babies after June Carter and Johnny Cash, who were married from 1968 until their deaths in 2003.

Clark, 22, welcomed her daughter June Carter Clark at 2:30 p.m. and hours later, Davis and her husband welcomed their son Johnny Cash Davis into the world at 9:50 p.m., per Good Morning America.

When nurses found out that two strangers who decided to name their kids after Cash and Carter gave birth on the same day, they facilitated a meeting between the babies in their bassinets and their parents.

The coincidence was only uncovered because Sophie's uncle struck up a conversation with baby Johnny's father.

"I was very shocked. I was so excited when I found out," Sophie, whose sister helped her and her husband name their first child, told GMA. Baby June's middle name is her father's first name.

She learned of the baby boy's name first. "And I was like, 'You've got to be kidding me,' " she said of her reaction when she learned that the babies had the same birthday.

Baby Johnny — who will go by Cash — is the 12th and youngest child in the blended family that Nicole and her husband are raising together.

"We told our co-workers and talked about it with friends and family, and everybody agreed Cash is a good name, like that's a great boy name," Nicole told GMA of how she landed on her son's moniker. "He could be a baseball player, he could be an astronaut, like Cash could do whatever he wants. And so we really liked it from the second we landed on it."

Nicole and Sophie plan to take their newfound friendship outside of the hospital and make sure their kids continue getting to know each other. Beyond the fact that they are linked by their names and birth dates, Nicole told GMA that she thinks she'll have a fruitful relationship with Sophie because they have such different amounts of parenting experience.

"I don't imagine there's ever any point in time where we can go separate ways," she said. " I'm very excited about staying friends and making opportunities for these guys to spend time together and grow up together."

"We want to keep them in touch," Sophie added. "Maybe get some pictures of them. It's too big of a coincidence not to."
