Miu Miu's FW22 Runway Offers a Lesson in Upcycling

Miu Miu continues its upcycling initiative through a limited-edition range of leather jackets, featured on the brand's Fall/Winter 2022 runway.

Furthering Miu Miu's commitment to sustainability and breathing life into pre-loved clothing, the latest instalment of the initiative sees the brand source 50 jackets from vintage markets across the world before re-working them in the atelier by hand. Drawing on the inherently male connotations of the leather jacket, Miu Miu reimagines the silhouette with feminine collars, stylized flowers, crystals and satin ribbon trims.

The reworked jackets are showcased in Miu Miu's latest campaign, encouraging its viewers to challenge their own perceptions of masculinity. Shot alongside vintage motorcycles, glistening metal and ink-laden rubber, the campaign stars Ever Anderson, Esther McGregor and Mame Bineta Sane.

The 'Upcycled by Miu Miu' initiative first launched in 2020 with a selection of 80 vintage dresses and has since gone on to include a partnership with Levi's alongside the new collection of leather jackets.
