For the second time this summer, Donald Trump has used his Twitter account to label a high-profile woman a “psycho.” Last month it was Bette Midler. On Tuesday, Mika Brzezinski who was targeted, as the president laid into her and her Morning Joe co-host (and new husband), Joe Scarborough.

Trump slammed the real-life couple and MSNBC hosts over their TV ratings, then accused them of spreading “fake news.” He went on to credit the show for helping “get me elected.” He then added a tweet tagging the Fox News show Fox & Friends, which is known for toeing the Trump party line.

Though Scarborough and Brzezinski are critical of the Trump presidency, POTUS went on to share how the pair seemingly had his back during his 2020 campaign. He also denied a purported Brzezinski claim that he’d offered to officiate their wedding, noting that it was Rep. Elijah Cummings — the Baltimore congressman he’s repeatedly attacked over the last few days — who presided over their Nov. 24 nuptials.

Brzezinski was quick to fire back, telling Trump to “rest [his] little thumbs.”

As for the wedding rumor, she tweeted that Trump had argued “over it with” his son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner.

As a parting shot, she told the president to “have a great day” with “Mushy Mark,” a reference to Rep. Mark Meadows, whom she blasted as “weak and spineless” during Tuesday’s Morning Joe. Meadows is a friend of both Trump and Cummings, and his refusal to take sides in their public feud, a move Brzezinski called “pathetic” given Cummings’s past defense of the North Carolina politician over accusations of racism.

Tuesday’s episode also saw Brzezinski, hosting without Scarborough, respond live to Trump’s comments about her.

“Donald, you really ought to find something else to do in the morning,” an exasperated Brzezinski she said. “It’s just not healthy.”

She continued, “Don’t worry, Donald, I’m not angry. I’m sad and disgusted when pathetic politicians don’t stand up to your racism. They are too afraid to. That is sad and that is unbelievably pathetic to watch and it is really bad for our country. So just make sure that you understand the emotion you’re seeing here.”

Meanwhile, Mediaite reports that Morning Joe’s ratings only took a slight dip for the second quarter of 2019, following record viewership during the first quarter. As The Wrap noted in March, Fox & Friends is the top-rated morning show on cable TV, though Fox and CNN have seen viewership numbers decline since 2018.
