Christian Louboutin, Maison Margiela and Thom Browne were the designers on the tips of everyone’s tongues at the 2024 Met Gala.

Certainly, these three fashion names were the ones to beat this year when it came to delivering statement-making footwear that were perfect for this year’s dress code, a “Garden of Time.”

While these labels are certainly now standard red-carpet staples in women’s fashion, many of Hollywood’s leading men and fashion plates donned the designers – often head to toe – as they walked the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s steps to celebrate this year’s Costume Institute exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

Indeed, 2024’s Met Gala saw more male attendees take footwear risks than ever before. Some opting for animal-like shoes, to more floral adorned options. Even some platform boots, sharply pointed toe silhouettes and a sneaker, or two, were seen on the feet of some of today’s top stars.

Here, we round up some of the top men’s shoes of the 2024 Met Gala.

Bad Bunny

For shoes, the singer wore black leather custom made Tabi boots worn with spats were created by Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela. The Tibi shoes, featuring a sleek black design, are complemented by a side zipper and an embellishment of white and brown fur on the top.

Male supermodel Alton Mason took to new heights on Monday night in a pair of platform astronaut boots in black and white patent leather. The almost cartoon-like style was a dressy take on a combat boot complete with brogue detailing. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the shoes: last year, Janelle Monae wore this exact style on the Met Gala red carpet. Mason, isn’t one to shy away from statement footwear. The model was seen at last year’s Met Gala in a pair of custom Sunni Sunni boots.

Josh O’Connor

The design incorporated a slightly elevated black sole and a round toe. To complement his footwear, the “Challengers” star wore a single-breasted elongated tailcoat in fine wool,  with pinstripe wool trousers, a caviar pearl beaded shirt, and bowed tie brooch from the Loewe x Lynda Benglis collection. The look was based on a womenswear design from Jonathan Anderson’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection.
