The ex-"View" star compared Barrymore's interview to therapy: "I sure as hell wouldn’t be sitting on her lap talking about how she needs to be my mom, crying."

Former View cohost Meghan McCain — who once said Kamala Harris is proof that "a woman can't be Vice President" — has called Drew Barrymore "disrespectful" for the actress' recent interview with the politician on The Drew Barrymore Show.

After Barrymore's Monday interview with the VP went viral for its unorthodox nature, the self-admitted Barrymore fan, political commentator, and daughter of the late Senator John McCain heavily criticized the performer on the latest episode of her Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat podcast.

"I know that’s Drew Barrymore’s thing, but someone needs to talk to her. Not everything you do is a therapy session, and some of this stuff is just not appropriate," McCain said of Barrymore's interview style, which has seen her physically interact with guests on her couch — including a moment where she held hands with Oprah Winfrey while interviewing her.

McCain went on to call out a moment where Barrymore referred to Harris as "Momala" during a statement about, in the actress' estimation, the world's need for maternal energy at the moment.

"These are people who deserve respect in all ways, and that includes physically respecting the space you’re occupying with them," McCain said.

"This is the Vice President of the United States of America. This is the strongest country with the most robust military in world history. If, God forbid, something happens to President Biden, she is the woman who will be our commander in chief with the nuclear codes,” McCain continued, assessing that Barrymore treated the interview like her "personal therapy session" instead of an interview with a powerful political figure. “Have some f---ing respect, Drew Barrymore. I don’t like it. I know she probably didn’t have ill intentions, but her producers and whoever is working the show, if you’re going to interview people at this level, it is a privilege."

The 39-year-old further suggested that she felt like Barrymore's treatment of Harris could weaken the VP's image on the world stage: "I sure as hell wouldn’t be sitting on her lap talking about how she needs to be my mom, crying," McCain finished. "It’s disrespectful, and it’s disrespectful to our presidency and vice presidency."

Despite her feedback on Barrymore's interview, McCain has long spoken out against Harris, including in a controversial podcast episode in January when she compared Harris to a "19-year-old stoner in college who's high at 3 a.m." after viewing Harris' 2022 speech about the passage of time.

"If anything, Vice President Harris has proven to me that maybe a woman can't be Vice President. I actually think she's setting feminism back 10 years," McCain quipped at the time. "Why is it that Black voters and people like me have such a strong adverse reaction to her? I have a very strong adverse reaction to her. It's not because of sexism. There are so many female politicians I love and respect that I'd be happy with being President."
