The Duchess of Sussex found a special way to honor her late mother-in-law during her recent trip to Nigeria.

Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana by wearing a necklace that once belonged to the former Princess of Wales. Prince Harry gifted Meghan the meaningful jewelry piece, which features a diamond-encrusted cross pendant attached to a gold chain, People reports.

Meghan wore the accoutrement on May 11, when she and Harry attended a reception dinner hosted at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters in the capital city of Abuja. The duchess also wore a strapless ivory column dress from St. Agni, gold knot earrings from Dior, nude Aquazzura heels, and her go-to Cartier Tank watch and gold bracelet.

Meghan often wears jewelry that once belonged to Diana, from a pair of diamond butterfly earrings to the royal’s famous aquamarine cocktail ring. In fact, Meghan’s own engagement ring features two round-cut diamonds from Diana’s personal collection, both of which flank a larger center stone cushion-cut diamond sourced from Botswana.

She accessorized the sentimental look with a green striped shawl, nude slingback leather sandals, hammered-gold disc earrings from Jennifer Meyer, and a gold Aurate collar necklace.
