Right about now, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are in the midst of their trip to Nigeria where they’ll meet leaders, visit charities and talk to service members connected to the Invictus Games. But while the trip will surely be one to nurture connections and show their support, there’s one aspect of this trip that has a special place in Markle’s heart.

As she once revealed in an episode of Archetypes, per People, the former Suits star found out she was 43% Nigerian. Therefore, a visit to the African country also becomes an opportunity for her to learn more about her ancestral home.

Echoing just that, Markle left a touching note in the visitor’s book at the Defence Headquarters following their visit on May 10, People reports. “With gratitude for the support of the Invictus community,” Markle wrote in beautiful handwriting (see the message HERE!) “And for welcoming me home.”

Harry also left a message of his own. “Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful country, together we will heal our troops,” he wrote. As a reminder, Harry’s Invictus Games is an international adaptive sports competition for wounded servicemen, women, and veterans that Harry founded in 2014.

Earlier in the day, Markle and Harry visited the Lightway Academy in Abuja where they shared sweet moments and gave inspiring speeches.

“We are honored to have our first visit to Nigeria be here with all of you. We believe in you, we believe in your teachers and we believe in your ability to continue to tell your stories and to just be honest with each other,” Markle said in her speech, per People. “There is no need to suffer in silence.”

“You know, every single one of you has a story. We all have our story,” Markle continued. “And there’s no shame in any single one of your stories. Even on the hardest days or darkest days, everything is a pillar of your strength by each of you being there.”

“Your teachers see that in you. And we see that in you,” she continued.

If you ask us, Markle seemed quite at home.
