Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, opted for nude shoes to speak on a panel while in Nigeria.
Markle is currently in the country on a 3-day trip with husband Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Taking place on Saturday, Markle co-hosted the Women in Leadership event with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.
The heels played second fiddle to a red maxi dress, made by the up and coming woman-designed Nigerian brand Orire. The design features a ruffle hem and spaghetti straps.
The event hosted 50 women from across Nigerian society. It was on the second day of the three-day trip and is the couple’s first to the country. In 2023, Markle found out that she has strong Nigerian heritage as a result of genealogical testing.
About the Shoe
To put the emphasis on her dress, the Duchess selected Aquazzura’s So Nude slingback stiletto. “Nude sandals are one of my obsessions,” Aquazzura creative director Edgardo Osorio said on the label’s website about the shoe. “Very high stiletto heel, almost-naked effect, sensual and extremely feminine.”

Indeed, the So Nude is a barely there sandal featuring a simple strap across the toe and then another minimal slingback strap that starts at the heel, both made of Nappa leather. As Markle selected a skintone pair, the shoes practically disappear on foot while providing her an extra four inches in height.

Meghan Markle and Aquazzura
Markle is a noted fan of Aquazzura. In fact, the brand is a major go-to for her, often being spotted in the company’s pumps. She wore the classic Purist pump from the label to the Invictus Games closing ceremony last year. She wore the exact style to a medal ceremony for those Games and this year, she wore them to the Royal Salute Polo Challenge. She’s also worn other styles, such as the cutout Dangerous Liasions pump, to Variety’s Power of Women event in 2023.
