Meghan Trainor — who recently opened up to Ashley Graham about her past doubts that she could achieve pop star fame without having to “fix my body” — says she grown to embrace her curves.
“My style is comfortable, but I also love when outfits show off my curves,” says Trainor, who admits that she “had no idea how to dress myself” when her career first kicked off. “I want to look and feel hot. For a long time, I wore baggy clothes and leggings; I felt insecure and I didn’t know how to dress my body. I’m still learning what looks awesome on me.”
The 26-year-old singer, who once pulled down the original version of her 2016 music video for the single “Me Too” when she discovered that some images had been digitally altered, also explained why she prefers to be upfront about her body rather than have it airbrushed.
“Nowadays, magazines won’t airbrush me — they don’t even hide when I’m wearing shapewear,” she says. “I think my songs said something really loud about that. I don’t know how to squeeze my body using [the photo-editing app] Facetune — I had someone on my team that would try and do that for me and I would say: ‘I look crazy, please go back.’ My body is body on my ‘gram — it’s not squished or anything.”
