Several of Megan Fox’s fans expressed confusion on social media when the actress shared a spicy new selfie that they didn’t immediately recognize.

Fox’s Wednesday, April 17, Instagram post, which she identified as an ad with a cosmetics company, showed the Transformers actress posing in front of an oval mirror while wearing a bra and red-and-black plaid pajama bottoms.

The Jennifer’s Body star wrote in the caption for her post that she was “repairing my hair (and 26 inches of extensions) post coachella,” a nod to her attendance at the first weekend of this year’s music and arts festival in Indio, California.

Fox, 37, looked directly into the mirror as she held up her phone to snap the selfie, which captured the long locks that she recently dyed blue. Though her sleeve of arm tattoos was visible in the photo, Fox appeared without much of the makeup that she usually wears at red carpet events and in other selfies she has shared with fans on social media previously.

Many Instagram users questioned the selfie in the post’s comment section.

“I didn't know who the hell I was looking at until I read the account name,” one person said. Another wrote that they initially thought the photo was of Kim Kardashian before they realized Fox’s account had posted it.

“You’re not Megan Fox,” one person declared. “Megan this is not you,” another said.

A couple of Instagram users even shared a theory that the photo was fake and created by artificial intelligence.

“This does not look like Megan Fox AT ALL,” one person wrote, adding, “AI doing its thing again.”

Other fans jumped to Fox’s defense, writing that a skim through the post’s comment section was “Proof that the pretty girl curse is real.”

“This whole comment section is spam and or trolls and it’s embarrassing,” one person said. “She looks gorgeous.”

“Megan can’t do anything without people tearing her apart,” another said as they encouraged the “fabulous” actress to “do your thing.”

“[T]he hate shes getting against not wearing making is CRAZY,” another person wrote before adding, “ur gorgeous, and look like a real woman. thank you for posting this.”
