'Mean girl' Angelina responds to 'Survivor' trickery and devastating loss

Season 37 of Survivor came to an end when Nick Wilson was crowned the winner on Wednesday night. In third place was Angelina Keeley, who received zero votes but plenty of attention for making some questionable moves during the finale.

After coming to an agreement with her fellow competitors to vote off Alison Raybould, Angelina then created a fake idol for seemingly no reason other than to embarrass Alison at tribal council.

I’m feeling a little naughty. Um, maybe borderline evil. Maybe borderline mean girl,” Angelina said during the episode.

Fellow competitor Mike White called her a “cruel psychopath” for the move, with Kara Kay adding that “she is evil.”

Numerous incidents have helped paint Angelina as the “villain” throughout the season, but the fake idol move seemed to put fans over the edge on Twitter.

Alison ultimately played the fake idol but later told Entertainment Weekly that she knew it was fake because Angelina’s reaction to her finding it was “truly acting from a daytime soap opera.” Angelina, meanwhile, admitted to EW that there was “a little bit of vengeance” in the move.

But when asked point blank at the live reunion show if Angelina was trying to embarrass Alison, not everyone was on the same page. Angelina denied it, but eventual winner Nick didn’t agree.

“You wanted to embarrass her,” he said, shaking his head.

Survivor returns next spring on CBS.
