Tourists at 30 Rock were shocked to see Michelle Obama and Jimmy Fallon
Former First Lady Michelle Obama dropped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new book, Becoming, and to join Fallon in surprising unsuspecting visitors at 30 Rockefeller Center. Obama has never shied away from silliness on the show. She has joined Fallon for “Ew!,” in which she hammed it up with him and Will Ferrell as they played teenage girls; she busted a move with Fallon for “The Evolution of Dance”; and she delighted fans who were recording farewell messages for her.
As Fallon did recently with Paul McCartney, he and the former FLOTUS surprised groups of tourists at 30 Rock outside an elevator. They couldn’t just be standing there when the doors opened — that would be boring. So they began with pretending to read books, lowering them to reveal their identities. They then moved on to jumping rope, singing “Jingle Bells” at a piano and hiding Obama in a giant gift box. Onlookers were delighted when the doors opened to reveal Fallon, but they freaked out when they saw Obama — and the doors closed before they could even process what had just happened.
