May the 4th be with you, readers: Library sparkles on ‘Star Wars Day’

May the 4th is recognized as “Star Wars Day,” beloved by fans because the date is a word play on “Stars Wars” dialogue: “May the Force be with you.”

On Saturday, “Star Wars” events were held across the country, and in the Quad Cities, at the Moline Public Library, where a free comic book event included toys, games, arts and crafts. Free comics were available for all ages, and the library was all dressed up “Star Wars” style for visitors.

Children’s Librarian Bailey Hager said the event was an opportunity for kids – many of whom had never visited the library before – to explore what the library has to offer.

“We have a lot of kids who come in who’ve never been to the library before who are exploring not just the free comics, but what we have to offer here,” she said. “Like we have computers, all sorts of really cool stuff. So this is one of those things that we like to highlight – the special things in the library in addition to getting free stuff.”
