Max has released the first teaser trailer for Dune: Prophecy, the upcoming Dune prequel series that’s based off of Frank Herbert’s novel Sisterhood of Dune. Watch it below.
Set 10,000 years before the escapades of Paul Atreides (played by good ol’ Timothée Chalamet in the recent Dune films), Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters battling forces that threaten the future of humanity. Along the way, they establish the sect that eventually becomes known as the Bene Gesserit.
The series is set for a six-episode run and will star Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, and more. Alison Schapker (Altered Carbon) will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Anna Foerster aiding in production and helming directorial duties for several episodes.
Dune: Prophecy was announced all the way back in 2019, prior to even Denis Villeneuve’s first cinematic installment. At the time, it was reported that Villeneuve would oversee the show, which is no longer is the case (perhaps explaining his “movies have been corrupted by television” statement). Watson (Chernobyl) and Henderson (Harry Potter) officially joined the cast in 2022.
Dune: Prophecy is set to premiere on HBO and Max this fall.
