Catfish fans got sleuthing when MTV dropped a promo video for their new season, which features more than a few shots of original co-host Max Joseph.

Joseph was the show's co-host alongside Nev Schulman when the series launched in 2012 and stuck around until 2018 when he announced his departure to pursue other projects.

Fans were devastated but quickly fell in love with Kamie Crawford, who slipped into his spot effortlessly and is now the show's primary co-host alongside Schulman.

MTV dropped a dramatic promo to tease the upcoming season, wasting no time playing with fans' emotions, saying, "Catfish is taking your Tuesday nights to the Max," before showing Joseph in the thick of an investigation with Schulman.

Fans immediately had some questions, which Max swiftly answered in a surprise Instagram post.

"The news is out," Joseph said. "I'm coming back to host an episode of Catfish this season."

People were ecstatic to hear the news. Comments flooded in from fans saying, "We want you back for good", and, "I can't wait to see the episode".

Exactly which episode he'll feature in is yet to be announced, but audiences can tune into new episodes from Tuesday, April 30 at 8pm on MTV.
