Matt Lauer Walks Out During Interview on 'Today'

Wednesday on Today, Matt Lauer had to get up and go right in the middle of an interview with Andy Cohen. Lauer started to get up then sat back down before actually getting up to say he had a plane to catch and walked off the set. Cohen, host of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo, gladly moved around the table and took Lauer’s spot.

Cohen listened intently to Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, making the perfect concerned face that communicates to the audience that he’s not only concerned, but he’s also listening.

Cohen also took a crack at reading the teleprompter even though it was obviously meant for Lauer or one of the other anchors. Otherwise this would have just been weird.

“Andy,” Cohen said, “your series Andy Cohen’s Then and Now returns to Bravo for a second season tonight.”

Cohen nearly had a job that was not much different than being an anchor on Today. He explained that a long time ago, he auditioned for a male version of The View.
