"Mascara Cocktailing" Is the TikTok Approved Way to Enhance Your Lashes

When I started wearing mascara many years ago, I distinctly remember grabbing multiple Maybelline mascaras to whisk up my formula. Once I became more advanced with makeup, I began experimenting with different brands such as Lancôme, Glossier and Dior Beauty's eyelash enhancers to create my own formula. I thought nothing of it beforehand — but TikTok seems to be onto the same trend but instead they've dubbed the trick "mascara cocktailing."

With over 1.4 million views on TikTok, #mascaracocktail is the technique of layering different formulas with unique wands to create a lash-enhancing effect. Many, like myself, use a mix-and-match, high-end to low-end approach — creating faux lash extensions. As I am a male beauty writer, most men naturally have longer lashes. Because of this, my lift is very light when it comes to "cocktailing," but for my girlies who aren't blessed with luscious lashes, this hack is definitely for you.

There's no right or wrong way to cocktail your mascaras. It's all contingent upon personal preference and the desired look you're going after. For instance, I don't use two volumizing mascaras at once. I like to start with a basic lash curl using either Glossier's "Lash Slick" or Ami Colé's "Lash Amplifying" Mascara and go in with YSL Beauty's "Lash Clash" or Chanel Beauty's "Le Volume de Chanel." The possibilities are endless.
