Congratulations are in order for a new round of musicians who just achieved “music’s highest honor.” On Sunday (April 21), Mary J. Blige, Kool & The Gang, A Tribe Called Quest, Dionne Warwick, and many more were officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their priceless achievements throughout their careers.

The full list of 2024 inductees and their respective categories are as follows: Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest in the Performer category; Jimmy Buffet, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield in the Musical Excellence Award category; Alexis Korner, John Mayall, and Big Mama Thorton in the Musical Influence category; and Suzanne De Passe in the Ahmet Ertegun Award category.

Fellow Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest announced the inductees on Sunday during American Idol. The 39th annual induction ceremony is set to take place on Oct. 19 in Cleveland. The celebratory event will air as a special on ABC at a later date and will be available on Hulu the day after the live ceremony.

The legendary “Real Love” singer celebrated the momentous achievement by sharing a clip on Instagram with the caption: “Beyond Grateful!!!!!! This is incredible!!! God always has the final say!!!! Thank you to my fans all over the world!!!! Tears of Joy!!!!”

The Hall of Fame also specified why each honorable inductee was selected, including that Big Mama Thornton was being recognized for “bridging the gap between the blues and rock & roll with her brilliant vocal performances on songs like ‘Hound Dog’ and ‘Ball N’ Chain.’” Kool & The Gang were described as “essential innovators in the sound of funk, soul, disco, and R&B, creating rock & roll’s most danceable anthems.”

There were reportedly also 15 acts who were nominated for this year’s Rock Hall that didn’t make the cut, including include Mariah Carey, Eric B. & Rakim, Sade, Jane’s Addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, and Sinéad O’Connor, who died last year.
