Mandy Moore 'Soaked' in Emotional Serenade from Husband Taylor Goldsmith for Early 40th Birthday Celebration

The 'This is Us' alum, who turns 40 on Wednesday, said she went phone-free for the heartfelt birthday celebration over the weekend

Ahead of her 40th birthday on Wednesday, Mandy Moore was celebrated by her friends and family as she enters a brand new decade.

In a series of photos and videos reposted to her Instagram Stories on Monday, April 8, the This Is Us alum, 39, captured her early birthday celebration the night prior and the special way her husband Taylor Goldsmith commemorated the event.

After giving fans a glimpse into the charcuterie style spread she offered to her guests, Moore revealed that her husband had "serenaded" her with a brand new song in honor of her birthday.

Over a repost of her friend gushing over the song that "brought everyone to tears," the actress thanked her for memorializing the moment on her behalf.

"I didn't have my phone out the whole night," she wrote. "Just soaked it in but thanks for capturing this."

Pal Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma were also along the various friends and family who showed up to help her celebrate her special day.

After Goldsmith completed his set, the How I Met Your Father star, 36, shared a video of the moment he stepped off the stage and gave Moore a kiss and a hug.

"Happy birthday," she captioned the post. "The song was perfection."

Duff also captured a shot of the actress getting surprised with her birthday cake and blowing out the candles.

Though Moore and those closest to her celebrated her 40th this weekend, the Tangled star made sure to clarify to fans that her birthday wasn't until later this week after she was inundated with well wishes online.

"Thanks for all the birthday love!" she captioned a slide on her Instagram Stories. "My actual birthday is this Wednesday (the 10th) but we had an early celebration last night so I get the confusion and will take the love regardless."

The Dawes frontman's birthday serenade comes after the couple have been together for nearly eight years.

After the actress and former teen pop star separated from musician Ryan Adams in January 2015 (their divorce was finalized in 2016), she met Goldman on Instagram, and the two quickly hit it off.

The couple got engaged in 2017 and were married in an intimate backyard ceremony in 2018.

"I feel incredibly understood and supported," Moore told PEOPLE following her engagement to Goldsmith. "I feel incredibly lucky to have somebody who is like, 'I got your back.' I found the right person and I feel like we can handle anything together."

In February 2021, the pair welcomed their first child, a son named August "Gus" Harrison Goldsmith. Then, in October 2022, Moore gave birth to another baby boy, Oscar "Ozzie" Bennett Goldsmith.
