Man Wearing “Scream” Mask Accused of Killing Neighbor with Chainsaw: Police

Zak Moyer has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the death of Edward Whitehead Jr., police say

Police in Pennsylvania have arrested a 30-year-old man accused of killing his neighbor with a chainsaw while wearing a mask from the Scream horror series according to authorities, per multiple reports.

Zak Moyer, 30, has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the death of his neighbor, 59-year-old Edward Whitehead Jr., WFMZ, Times News Online and Lehighvalleylive.com reported, citing Pennsylvania State Police.

Police responded to a Lehighton, Pa., home on Monday and found Whitehead  “​​struck multiple times with a knife and a battery-operated chainsaw," Trooper Anthony Petroski said, according to WFMZ.

In surveillance footage, police saw the suspect clad in all-black clothing and a mask from the iconic Scream movie, Lehighvalleylive.com and Times New Online reported, citing a probable cause affidavit.

Moyer allegedly escaped into the house next to Whitehead's after the killing, authorities alleged in the court documents, per Lehighvalleylive.com and Times New Online.

He was briefly inside the home while police surrounded the property and asked him to come out, per the probable cause affidavit cited by Times News Online.

He then allegedly began communicating with police outside with “notes” on his window, according to a neighbor's video reviewed by WFMZ.

In the notes, Moyer allegedly accused Whitehead of crimes, WFMZ reported, citing a police report.

Police told Lehighvalleylive.com they are not investigating the alleged crimes Moyer is allegedly trying to pin on Whitehead.

According to court records, Moyer’s sister alleged that he had mentioned killing Whitehead for the week before the killing, WFMZ and Lehighvalleylive.com reported.

Moyer is set to be arraigned in April, according to online court records. No attorney was listed for him in court records as of Wednesday afternoon.
