In May 2025, the announcement came that Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy had signed on for the cinematic adaptation of Enid Blyton’s children’s novel series The Faraway Tree. Ben Gregor (Fatherhood) will direct the film, and Simon Farnaby (Wonka) turned Blyton’s book into a screenplay. Real Street Productions, Elysian Film Group, and Ashland Hill Media Finance are producing the film, with Palisades Park Pictures set to introduce it for sale at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
“To have two actors of the quality of Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy is a dream for any screenwriter,” Farnaby explained. “I have long admired their warmth, wit, and lightness of touch. Plus they have the power to imbue their characters’ complexities that I don’t have the power to write… I mean, even Enid Blyton might be impressed we got Spider-Man and the Queen.”
Garfield and Foy will play Tim and Polly, respectively. The casting for other roles is currently ongoing. If production succeeds in meeting its starting date in June, The Magic Faraway Tree (Movie) can premiere sometime in 2025.
