Grease star Susan Buckner has sadly passed away at the age of 72.

Announced in a press release, Buckner peacefully passed away on May 2, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones.

Buckner is best known for playing Patty Simcox alongside John Travolta and Olivia-Newton John in 1978’s Grease.

“Born on January 28, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, Susan’s journey in the spotlight was marked by a myriad of achievements. She was crowned Miss Washington in 1971 and later represented The Evergreen State in the Miss America pageant the following year,” the press release reads. “Soon after, she became one of Dean Martin’s Golddiggers, which ignited her passion for music and songwriting. That led her to become part of the all-girl group Fantasy and musical duo Buckner and Pratt.”

Bucker appeared on a number of television shows in the 1970s, including The Brady Bunch Hour, The Mac Davis Show, Sonny and Cher, and Telly Savalas Live Touring Show.

Following her role in Grease, Buckner appeared in several more television series such as The Love Boat, B.J. and the Bear, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, and When the Whistle Blows.

In 1981, Buckner played Vicky Anderson in Wes Craven’s Deadly Blessing alongside Sharon Stone and Maren Jensen. She also appeared in 1989’s Police Academy 6: City Under Siege.

“She stepped away from Hollywood to accept her most cherished role, that of a devoted mother to her two children, Adam and Samantha,” the press release reads. “Her commitment to nurturing talent extended beyond her own family. She directed captivating children’s theater performances at Pinecrest Elementary School and taught dance as an instructor at Body and Soul Gym in Coral Gables for nearly a decade.”

Buckner is survived by her son, Adam Josephs; daughter, Samantha Mansfield; grandchildren, Oliver, Riley, Abigail, and Ruby; sister, Linda; daughter-in-law, Noel Josephs; son-in-law, Adam Mansfield; and her longtime partner, Al.
