LCT presents 'Kinky Boots'

Lubbock Community Theater presents "Kinky Boots" May 24-June 2 at its theater, 3101 35th St.

Based on a book by Harvey Fiersten and music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper, the production tells the story of Charlie Price, who has reluctantly inherited his father’s shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy.

Trying to live up to his father’s legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair find that they have more in common than they realized… and discover that when you change your mind, you can change your whole world.

Directed for LCT by Jillian Jhohnstone, the production is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, May 24 and 31; 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, May 25 and June 1; and 2:30 p.m. Sundays, May 36 and June 2.

Tornado Alley Tattoo Expo set

The fifth annual Tornado Alley Tattoo Expo is set for May 24-26 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

Cactus hosts tribute to 80s rock

Caldwell Entertainment presents a tribute to Guns 'n' Roses, Def Leppard and White Snake at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the historic Cactus Theater.

Due to popular demand, Caldwell Entertainment is back with a tribute to these three legendary rock groups.

From “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to “Here I Go Again”, you will be on your feet all night long. Cactus favorites Brandon Gwinn, Jason Fellers, Kassidy King, Jeff McCreight and special guests will be backed by the immensely talented Caldwell Collective band for a night of incredible music.

Ragtown hosts film presentation

Glenn Polk portrays Solomon, Martha, Michael, and Elvis in "Heaven…A Divine Comedy", a Ragtown Film Presentation scheduled for 3 p.m. June 1 and 8 at the Ragtown Gospel Theater in Post.

Staged and filmed in 2011, this is one of the most memorable of all 56 Ragtown productions.

Jeff Bailey, Savannah Gwinn, and Chip Polk start the show with music.

It is your first day in Heaven and you are attending an orientation for new arrivals. Four notable personalities from the Bible will address frequently asked questions and set your mind at ease as you embark upon the greatest adventure of all.

You will be welcomed by King Solomon, Michael the Archangel, Martha, sister of Lazarus, and Elvis. Each one will offer sweet and often hilarious insight, and some valuable advice about making a smooth transition to our heavenly new life…all four unforgettably portrayed by Glenn Polk in 2011. Dance Gallery presents 'Retro'

The Dance Gallery presents "Retro" Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2 at Buddy Holly Hall.

The production is a celebration of the headlines, movies, music and pop culture from yesteryear.

In this production, The Dance Gallery will commemorate great moments in history like Woodstock and the moon landing of 1969, remember our favorite childhood toys, TV shows and movies, relive the premier of MTV in the 1980’s, and more.

West Texas Comic Con setr for June 1-2

West Texas Comic Con, is the largest comic convention in West Texas, is set for June 1 and 2 in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

With the same goal in mind, to renew the comic con experience for fans and vendors to be fun, memorable, and exciting, the convention aims to unite the elite of the pop culture industry under one roof.

The event will showcase the best in comics, toys, collectibles, artists, celebrities, cosplay and fandom.

CATS presents annual melodrama

CATS Playhouse presents its annual summer melodrama "Blame It on the Pony Express" at 7:30 p.m. June 7-8, 14-15 and 21-22, at the theater, 2257 34th St.

In this long-awaited prequel to the Calamity Gulch series, we find out the Ma and Pa Culpepper met and how Horace Prickley inspired pretty flower peddler Flossie McDurdle to become the legendary Sahara Hartburn.

Yo-Yo Ma to perform with Lubbock Symphony

World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma makes his debut at The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts with the Lubbock Symphony.

Ewing brings songs to Cactus Theater

Legendary songwriter Skip Ewing takes the stage at the Cactus Theater at 7:30 p.m Friday, June 7.

A native of Redlands, Clifornia, Ewing also spent some of his formative years in South Carolina and Colorado before moving to Nashville in 1984. Ewing has had songs recorded by Keith Urban, Zac Brown Band, George Strait, Keb Mo, Willie Nelson and numerous others.

The Flaming Lips coming to Hub City

The Flaming Lips will present Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots at 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Buddy Holly Hall.

Released in July 2002, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots remains the commercial high-water mark in The Flaming Lips’ wild four-decade journey, giving the GRAMMY® award-winners their first RIAA certified Gold Record.

Dunham returns to Hub City

Comedian ventriloquist Jeff Dunham brings his "Still Not Canceled" tour to the Helen Devitt Jones Theater of Buddy Holly Hall at 7 p.m. on July 10 and 11.

One of the Top Touring Artists of the Pollstar Era, Dunham, has consistently delivered laughs and shattered ratings with his broadcast specials, global tours, and a best-selling autobiography. He and his cast of world-famous characters are now taking the fun and laughs across the country.
