Rachel Sennott's half-hour comedy pilot has found its director in the two-time Emmy-nominated Lorene Scafaria, Deadline reports.

The project was announced last month when Deadline dropped the exclusive that HBO had ordered the untitled project that Sennott will write, executive produce and star in.

For now, the only details available about the pilot are that it follows "a codependent friend group reunites, navigating how the time apart, ambition and new relationships have changed them".

Scafaria, whose previous television credits include directing episodes of New Girl and Succession, joins the project and will executive produce alongside Sennott. In 2018, Scafaria made her feature film directorial debut with Hustlers, starring Constance Wu and Jennifer Lopez, which landed Lopez a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globes.

Sennott's career has been gaining momentum since she led Emma Seligman's Shiva Baby in 2020. Since then, she has added a dozen projects to her slate, including an appearance in TV series Call Your Mother and The Idol.

Just last year, Sennott gave audiences a taste of her writing ability with Bottoms, which she co-wrote with friend and frequent collaborator Emma Seligman. Bottoms follows two unpopular queer high-school students - played by Sennott and Ayo Edebiri - who start a fight club under the guise of learning self defence.

Further details about the pilot are under wraps.
