Long running Dixon May Fair to return for 147th year

(FOX40.COM) — The Dixon May Fair, considered one of California’s oldest fairs, is returning for the 147th time.

The annual fair will take place Thursday and through Sunday on 655 1st Street in Dixon. The four-day event will feature carnival rides, entertainment, food and activities for all ages and interests.

According to the fair’s website, entertainment for the 2024 fair includes a bull riding event on Friday at 7 p.m., a tractor pull competition on Saturday at 7 p.m. and a demolition derby on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. All three events will take at the grandstand and will require an additional ticket to enter the venue.

The live music lineup includes the Outlaw Mariachis, the Ariel Jean Band, School of Rock, Maya Band, Robby James and the Streets of Bakersfield, Rhythm Method Trio and a Tom Petty tribute.

Sunday will feature a Latin music music featuring Alerta Maxima and Los Canarios de Michoacan.

How much are tickets? 

Tickets for the fair are $15 at the gate for people 13 and over, $10 for children 5 to 12 years old, $10 for seniors 65 and over and those who have an active military duty card. Children 4 and under get into the free for fair.

Grandstand events each have an admission price of $40 with a $1 fee.

Thursday at the fair is “Thrifty Thursday” which has a special admission price of $5 for kids  5 years old and older. Friday is “Kids Day” has a special where children 12 and under get free admission all day,

According to the fair, Mother’s Day will be celebrated with 500 roses given away at the front entrance.

What are the fair hours?

According to the fair’s website, here are the fair’s hours:

•Thursday, May 9: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
•Friday, May 10: Noon to 11 p.m.
•Saturday, May 11: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
•Sunday, May 12: Noon to 10 p.m.

All ticket sales and buildings will close at 9 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday while closures take place at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There will be no reentry after 9 p.m. on Thursday and Sunday and no reentry after 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
