This A-List Actor Has Reportedly Been Offered the Role of James Bond & Fans Have Mixed Reactions

After 15 years and five movies in the role, Daniel Craig‘s tenure as the mysterious and cunning James Bond is coming to an end. And while Craig’s charm and sophistication in his performance are unmatched, another actor has reportedly already been offered his role.
According to sources for The Sun, British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who most recently starred in Bullet Train and The King’s Man, has been sent the contract.

“Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it,” the insider told the outlet. “The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.”
The source added that EON Productions, the production company behind the spy movies, is already eager to get Taylor-Johnson’s era as Bond started right away. “As far as EON is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement,” the source added.
“[Taylor-Johnson] may not be the best known in his field but he is an incredibly talented actor,” the source added of what made him stand out. “His role in Nocturnal Animals showed his depth as an actor. He is the perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel left off.”
Prior to the report, Taylor-Johnson, who’s starred in many action movies in the past including Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age of Ultron, had already shown his appreciation for the role. “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role,” the actor told reporters last week, per The New York Post. “I take it as a great compliment.”
In addition to Taylor-Johnson, the competition for who would play Bond next was reportedly quite tough. Among the names in the running were Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and recent Oscar winner Cillian Murphy. So, of course, not everyone has been happy with the news.
“Now he’s handsome and all but HENRY CAVILL WAS RIGHT THERE!” wrote one user on X. “I’m fine with it even though Richard Madden is RIGHT THERE!” wrote another.
With that said, many X users seemed to be excited about the new actor stepping into the 007 shoes. “Really keen to see how he plays the role 🙌,” wrote one user. “That kid has the goods. No better choice,” echoed another. We can’t wait!
