At 59, Kristin Davis is proving that she has nothing to hide by posting a gorgeous, makeup-free selfie on Instagram. She looked glowing and beautiful after a fresh haircut by celebrity hairstylist Rebekah Forecast, and fans were quick to praise the Sex and the City star.

The natural light hit Davis’ face from the perfect angle as she gave the camera lens a soulful gaze. (You can see the photo HERE.) With maybe a hit of mascara and her brunette locks styled in bright, bouncy curls, the And Just Like That actress looked so confident at the moment. She captioned the post, “Fresh 💇🏻‍♀️ by @rebekahforecast + NYC water = Kenya hair vibes part 2??” Her followers jumped in the comments to sing her praises. “Now THIS is the hair Charlotte needs to rock in season 3,” wrote one fan. Another added, “you look so good ❤️.”

This is a big change from last year when Davis admitted to Entertainment Tonight that aging in the public eye was brutal. “I don’t have to look like how I used to look,” she explained. “When I look in the mirror, I try to remind myself not to see the deficits, you know, because that’s how we’re programmed to see.” It didn’t help that she received cruel comments from other women about her looks when she chose to use Botox and fillers to soften some of the lines on her face, which are pretty common cosmetic procedures these days.

“I think part of the reason that people are not more open is because there is such shaming put on you largely by other women,” she shared. “It’s so sad. We have enough problems as it is. We don’t need to shame each other. Like, it’s so much a waste of time, but it does hurt.” While revealing that the criticism stung and she “shed tears” over it to The Telegraph, Davis did take a step back to reassess her beauty regimen. “I’ve had to get them dissolved, and I’ve been ridiculed relentlessly,” she said. “It’s very stressful.”

Davis added that she’s had “good and bad” experiences with fillers, and she’s certainly not opposed to getting them in the future — it’s all about balance. The conflict between aging gracefully and trying to recapture your youth is a construct often placed on women, so it’s a struggle to navigate and everyone has to choose the best path for themselves. Davis’ frank admissions reveal just how sensitive a subject it can be even though aging is a privilege and we need to treat it that way.
