After the Queen’s passing last month, reports almost instantly began leaking out of the royal inner circle suggesting that Prince Harry’s long-anticipated, already-described-as-explosive-before-anyone-without-an-NDA-has-actually-read-it memoir might undergo significant edits and/or delays.

In mid-September, less than two weeks after the Queen’s death, the consensus seemed to be that Harry’s memoir would almost definitely be pushed back to 2023.

“Of course, the Queen’s passing was something that was always speculated on when we started working on the book.…When it comes down to it, there is absolutely no way the book can come out this year,” a source told Page Six last month. “You only have to look at the royal family to see how emotional they are. This is a matter of respect for Her Majesty—as Prince Harry’s grandmother and as his Queen.”

Harry’s memoir might not just be delayed though. It could also be undergoing some significant edits. Last week, a report from The Sun claimed that Harry is “panicking” and is “desperate” to make revisions to parts of the book that could be seen as insensitive in light of the Queen’s death and his father, now-King Charles, taking the throne.

If Harry is making edits (it’s not clear if he’s able to under his publishing contract), a source told Page Six that said changes would likely involve “taking out anything potentially bad he wrote about [William, Charles, and Camilla] now? Who knows what will change. He would never write anything bad about the Queen. He always has had the utmost love and respect for her.”

Now, a brand-new wave of speculation about the memoir suggests that King Charles’s team would honestly rather just get the book scrapped entirely, which, 😳😳.

“The question inside the palace is: ‘Can the book be stopped?’ It may be that even Harry can’t stop it at this stage, but the feeling at the very top is that there’s no good that can come of airing grievances in public,” a friend of King Charles told the Mail on Sunday, which added in its report that lawyers from the royal fam’s longtime law firm of choice, Harbottle and Lewis, are “expected to be on standby to read the book when it comes out.”
