King Charles and Queen Camilla Are Set to Spend Their Wedding Anniversary at Birkhall

King Charles and Queen Camilla will reportedly spend their 19th wedding anniversary this week at Bikrhall, their home on the Balmoral estate in Scotland.

Charles and Camilla tied the knot on April 9, 2005 in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall, then received a religious blessing at St. George's Chapel at Windsor. After, they honeymooned at Birkhall, a home which previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother until her death in 2002.

"It is such a special place, particularly because it was made by my grandmother. It is a childhood garden, and all I've done, really, is enhance it a bit," Charles told Country Life of his love for Birkhall's gardens. While Balmoral was long thought to be Queen Elizabeth's favorite residence, Birkhall is a favorite of King Charles. Recently, Balmoral Castle announced the interior of the castle will be open to the public for the first time; King Charles granted permission for visitors to go on private tours through rooms used by the royal family.

King Charles was set to spend January in Scotland before he had to travel back to London for treatment for an enlarged prostate, then he stayed near London after Buckingham Palace revealed his cancer diagnosis. During the past few months, he has been pictured attending church at Sandringham, the royal family's private estate in Norfolk.

The news of his upcoming travel to Scotland viewed as a promising sign in his cancer treatment, especially after he appeared with a small group of royals at Easter Sunday services last weekend in Windsor and greeted well-wishers who were waiting outside the church.
