Kiddie coaster, laser show, water park bar: See what's new at Kings Island this year

Kings Island's opening day, one of the first signs of summer in Greater Cincinnati, is almost here.

The Mason amusement park opens for passholders Friday and the general public Saturday, launching the 2024 season. The park will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Visitors can find new thrills this year, including a new kids zone, the park's first-ever family boomerang coaster and more. Here's what to expect.

Camp Snoopy

Construction is underway at Camp Snoopy, an extension of the Planet Snoopy kids area. Existing rides that were rebranded for the area, including Woodstock's Air Rail, Charlie Brown's Rushing River Log Ride, Linus' Launcher and Franklin's Flyers will be open to start the season.

New attractions, including Snoopy's Soap Box Racers, Beagle Scout Acres and Pigpen's Mess Hall, will open in late spring.

Here's what Camp Snoopy includes:

  • Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers roller coaster, which is new.

  • New Beagle Scout Acres play area.

  • Charlie Brown’s Rushing River Log Ride, formerly known as Race for Your Life Charlie Brown.

  • Woodstock’s Air Rail, previously called Flying Ace Aerial Chase.

  • Franklin’s Flyers, formerly known as Woodstock Gliders.

  • Linus’ Launcher ride.

  • New counter service restaurant, Pigpen's Mess Hall.

New Soak City bar

A new outdoor, covered bar located next to Coconut Cove Cafe will open when Soak City opens for the season Memorial Day weekend. Splash River has also been completely resurfaced.

Shows and events

"Under the Stars," a new Nighttime Finale show, starts at the park Memorial Day weekend. The evening show features hundreds of drones, laser projections and fireworks.

The Gazillion Bubble Show, a new music-filled bubble show, runs at the park June 15 to July 7, according to the Kings Island website.

Grand Carnivale returns to the park July 20 to Aug. 4.

Dining

Both the Chicken Shack and Jukebox Diner food stands have been remodeled for the 2024 season. Chicken Shack is located in the park's Action Zone, and Jukebox Diner is within the Coney Mall area.
