White gowns are tricky to pull off without the ensemble becoming bridal, but the latest Kelly Rowland Cannes red-carpet look demonstrated her ability to walk that fine line.

Attending a screening of The Count of Monte Cristo, the singer and child of destiny wore what looks like a simple strapless white column dress with an ivory satin piece attached, giving the gown the appearance of being one-shouldered with a train that began on her bejeweled right hip. It’s like toga party, but make it so classy. The oversized proportions and lack of lace keep the dress strictly catwalk, not walk-down-the-aisle.

Rowland accessorized with diamond and pearl jewelry and wore her hair slicked back to achieve the wet look.

British Vogue has declared the pop-of-red trend to be “retired” and is fully on board with white dresses for spring and summer. “The white dress is for the woman who bought into quiet luxury, but wants more from her restrained palette of oatmeals and taupes…she’s into folklore, but also skateboarding…she wants to subvert archaic ideas around female stereotypes. She most certainly wants to look sexy in her lace. And she doesn’t care if you think, say, her Valentino cut-out mini is too mini,” the magazine explained. Note taken, but, Rowland’s actually not ready to retire her pops of red, thankyouverymuch.

The day before wearing this lovely white ensemble, Kelly Rowland attended the Marcello Mio Cannes screening in a beautiful scarlet Anamika Khanna gown, with Messika jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Rowland likes dark eyeliner, good highlighter, and a glossy nude lip, and gosh darn it, she’s gonna stick with that!

First red, now white…if blue is next, this is officially an Americana Cowboy Carter tie-in moment. But she looks so good in red and white, we also kinda want her to just keep repeating those two.
