Katy Perry’s Mesh Look at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards Proves Her New Era Is In Full Swing

While she has yet to announce it, Katy Perry‘s recent looks prove she’s getting ready for a new era. In addition to her officially leaving American Idol after seven seasons, her two past looks have been edgy and skin-baring, and we’re thinking her new phase is only just beginning.

At the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards on April 1, the “Teenage Dream” singer wore a black mesh dress with side cutouts held together by red velvet bows. She also paired the look with black underwear, knee-high leather boots and futuristic black glasses.

As for her glam, Perry rocked a bronzy look with nude lips, a smokey eye and her hair in loose waves.

Of course, Perry looked absolutely phenomenal on the carpet posing for pictures. Later in the night, she also took the look to the stage to present the Song of the Year award to SZA.

“everyone is being super psyched/nice about katy perry’s new era on the timeline?? oh we prayed for days like this 😭😭😭 ,” wrote one user on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Katy Perry new era is going to be insane,” echoed another.

Prior to her head-turning mesh look, Perry wowed at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event last month.

For the event, Perry wore a red corset and skirt two-piece set from Ellie Misner Boleyn paired with a black thong peaking from underneath, per WWD. She also accessorized the look with 8-inch vintage Vivienne Westwood pumps, a pearl necklace and a long slick ponytail.

At the end of last year, music insiders revealed Perry was passionate about her comeback to music (her last album was Smile in 2020). “Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years,” a source told The Sun, per The Independent. “She has been doing it on her own terms and it is quite different from anything she has released before.”

In addition to the new music, Perry is reportedly planning a tour too. “She feels ready to tour again. The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw,” the source continued. “The hope is that she can head out towards the end of 2024, but it is still being worked out.”
