It was just yesterday that we were harping on about Rita Ora's *major* see-through silver dress and predicting the metallic hue – which has been a low-key colour trend all year, FYI – would be the shade to know (and wear) about as we move into next season.

If you wanted further proof that silver is very much of-the-moment, Katy Perry just shared an Instagram post rocking her own metallic mini dress. Talk about perfect timing.

Now we don't mean to blow our own trumpet (after all, it is technically our job to be up on all the latest trends and share them with you ASAP – we're not about gatekeeping here), but we told ya we knew what we were talking about. And Katy's dress is the perfect shiny tone to nail the look.

Check it out for yourself:

Now we can't be sure if Katy's dress is actually made from satin, or if it's just the silver colour creating a lustrous effect. Given the mini is cut in a traditional slip dress silhouette though, we're pretty sure it will be as the style is most commonly made from a silky fabric to help it fall juuust right.

The fabric also seems to consist of a subtle, faded print that lends to the metallic appearance, as opposed to a solid block silver hue. Thin spaghetti straps, a scoop neckline and a thigh-high leg slit complete the design, while also showing off Katy's footwear.

Wearing a patent brown croc-effect block-heel knee-high boot with gold hardware detailing, the shoe is the Gemini boot from Katy's own shoe line, Katy Perry Collections. Yep, turns out the singer and mother-of-one has also added 'footwear designer' to her resume.

Katy has recently been sharing more of her footwear picks on social media, and you can shop her exact boots now:

All in all, Katy's latest look paired with her newly cut-in micro bangs is giving us major throwbacks to her California Gurls era.
