Katie Couric is now a grandmother, shares pics of her new grandson: 'I am thrilled'

Couric shared pics of her first grandchild, John, and his proud parents on Instagram.

This is Katie Couric reporting...as a grandmother.

The celebrated TV journalist welcomed grandson John on Saturday, sharing photos of the newborn and his beaming parents, daughter Ellie Monahan and her husband Mark Dobrosky, on social media.

"John Albert Dobrosky was born on his due date, Saturday, March 23rd at 8:23 am, just shy of seven pounds," Couric wrote on Instagram. "He will be called Jay in honor of his maternal grandfather. Albert is after Mark’s paternal grandfather. Mom and Dad (Ellie and Mark) are over the moon (it was a full moon) I am thrilled to have my first grandchild, Carrie can’t wait to be a cool Aunt and Molner is enjoying handing out cigars. We feel so blessed."

Couric learned that she was going to be a grandma last August, when ahead of attending a Taylor Swift concert, her daughter gave her a friendship bracelet with the words "Granny to be" — a moment she shared months later on the Granny 'Gram.

"Been dying to tell you,” Couric captioned the post. “This is what happens when you go to a @taylorswift concert last summer and forget your friendship bracelet and your daughters say, 'Don’t worry, we made one for you!'”
