In the wild and sometimes lawsuit-filled world of celebrity brand endorsements, SKIMS has established itself as a not only yet another powerful brand from the Kardashian family, but as a shapewear company that wants to bring everyone in the fold. Figures such as Sabrina Carpenter, Brooke Shields, Chelsea Handler, and Alex Cooper have all lent their faces to the brand, each adding their own flavor to the SKIMS narrative.

Now, it appears that Kathy Bates, an actress whose career is defined by her exceptional versatility and intense characters on screen, is poised to join this illustrious lineup. Known for her readiness to tackle complex roles, Bates has recently expressed eagerness about becoming part of the SKIMS story. Despite her busy schedule, including her commitment to Ryan Murphy’s anthology horror series American Horror Story, Bates has found a connection with SKIMS, rooted in a gesture from Kardashian a few years back that hinted at a possible collaboration.

“I haven’t had a chance to see it,” Bates said regarding the latest installment of AHS, in which Kardashian plays the publicist Siobhan Corbyn in the show’s 12th season, Delicate. “I’ve been learning lines for this,” she said, referencing her upcoming legal drama, Matlock.

“But she sent me some SKIMS two or three years ago and she said she was going to put me in an ad. And so I think, Kim, I’m waiting. I’m ready,” the 75-year-old Hollywood veteran told People.

Bates’ narrative extends beyond her filmography, touching on aspects of personal strength and resilience that resonate deeply with the principles of SKIMS. Notably, Bates underwent a very public double mastectomy in 2012 following a breast cancer diagnosis. “My manager didn’t want me to be the poster child for ovarian cancer. Then I got breast cancer, and that, combined with seeing Melissa Etheridge doing her thing, made me say, ‘Why not?’ I wanted to give women a face to this cancer,” Bates explained to Future of Personal Health.

After her surgery, Bates spoke openly about her struggles and the aftermath of her diagnosis, emphasizing the importance of awareness and early detection in the fight against breast cancer. This candidness about her health battles highlighted her commitment to advocating for women’s health issues, further aligning her with the values of empowerment and self-advocacy that SKIMS represents.

Everything about Bates, from her body positivity and her discussions on overcoming health hurdles feels like a perfect match for SKIMS’ mission, making her a seamless fit for the brand. Here’s to hoping Bates won’t need to channel her unforgettable Misery performance to catch Kim’s eye for the next SKIMS campaign!
