The Golden Bachelor charmed audiences with Gerry Turner’s search for love. He found his match in Theresa Nist, and the couple became engaged. They tied the knot in a televised wedding in January 2024. After the success of The Golden Bachelor, ABC confirmed that The Golden Bachelorette would be coming in the fall of 2024. But could Kathie Lee Gifford be the bachelorette?
There was speculation that soap queen Susan Lucci, who lost her spouse, might be a prime candidate. After all, she is a Bachelor super fan. It would certainly make the episodes even more dramatic.

But Today Show hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager have another suggestion- their good friend, Kathie Lee. When Kathie Lee hit up the show, Jenna and Hoda were ready to make their pitch. “We stand by the fact that we think you would be the best Golden Bachelorette of all time,” Jenna said. “Your storyline would be very good because, first of all, you’re not someone who would go sucking face with someone in a hot tub,” Hoda remarked. Wow. Doesn’t The Golden Bachelorette get to have any fun?
Hoda continued, “But can you imagine how good it would be? You would hold all of these men at bay and make them romance you — sing me a song, write me a poem. You would bring romance back, and that’s what we need!”
Kathie Lee quipped, “Earn me, baby!” Jenna was very enthusiastic. “You would make romance great again!” she stated.
Kathie Lee shared that there had been discussions about the show with ABC. “It would have to be completely different. They’d have to make them much younger,” she joked. Jenna added that they could change the title to “The Golden Cougar.”
