Kate Spade's Widower Shares Rare Photo of Daughter On Late Fashion Designer's Birthday

On what would have been Kate Spade's 57th birthday, her husband is remembering the late fashion icon and sharing a note about mental health. Andy Spade took to Instagram on Christmas Eve, which was the birthday of his late wife, Kate.

Spade, who is the brother of comedian David Spade, shared a photo of his and Kate's daughter, Frances Beatrix Spade. Frances is now 14 years old, but in the photo appears much younger, as her father mentions how her mother's legacy continues to live on.

"I will never forget the love Kate had for our beautiful, bright and charming Frances Bea. On the date of Katherine Noel Brosnahan Spades birthdate I hope that we can all be kind to one another and look for signs of private problems. Some of us are too embarrassed or prideful to admit we have flaws. Please don’t hide from them," Spade wrote.

He continued that there is "no shame" in having flaws, that, "We should take pride in admitting our humanity. Perfection isn’t the goal - honesty is."

Spade also wanted to share a message for those who may feel extra lost during the holidays. Kate Spade died by suicide in her Park Avenue apartment in June 2018 after struggling with depression for years.

"Please seek help if you are feeling helpless or lost. Ask friends and relatives if they are okay. This is truly important. Sometimes they won’t tell you how they are feeling but nudge them to find out. Happy holidays and best wishes to all. By the way, this is a picture of our daughter. The most special person on this planet I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. She will not like that I posted this but she may understand when she’s older. But probably not.Love to all.Andy"

Tree Tribute

One of the things Andy Spade and his daughter have personally done to pay tribute to Kate is plant a Christmas tree outside their home for a constant remembrance of her favorite holiday and birthday. He shared about the token on social media and wrote about how much his wife will be missed.

"Dear Katy, this tree is for you. Bea and are planting it outside of our big window to keep your magical spirit and energy close to us everyday. It will bless our new home in California and radiate your essence 365 days a year. You were illumines and we feel your presence wherever we go. I want to thank you for all of the wonderful gifts you gave me over the years. For your beauty, intelligence and grace under pressure. For your boundless generosity, unflappable honesty and kindness to all living things."
