'Lights Out With David Spade' Sued After Drunk Employee Allegedly Killed Person Leaving Premiere Party
The production company behind "Lights Out With David" is being sued after they wee accused of providing alcohol to an employee, who left the show's premiere and killed someone after driving drunk and crashing their car into a pedestrian.
According to documents obtained by The Blast, On August 1, 2019, a young man named Noah Benardout was struck and killed after being hit by a car that had just been in a violent accident.
The lawsuit, filed by Noah's parents, claims the production of the TV show "hosted an employee party for the premier" at Nightingale Plaza nightclub in Hollywood. They claim a person named Jacob Gralitzer was invited by the company to attend the party.
During the event, the suit claims, "provided an open bar serving alcoholic beverages." So, during the event Gralitzer, "drank a multitude of alcoholic beverages which caused him to be severely intoxicated." He then got in his car to leave the party and allegedly was "speeding more than 30 miles per hour in excess of the posted speed limit, and weaving in and out of traffic."
According to the suit, at some point, his car then collided with another vehicle and was catapulted into Noah who was standing on the sidewalk. Noah was killed from the blunt force trauma to the head caused by the force of the hit.
"This wrongful death case stems from a drunk driver...who became inebriated at a company party and then recklessly drove his 2018 silver Infiniti Q60S...at high speeds through West Hollywood causing a severe vehicular collision which resulted in striking and killing 24 year-old pedestrian Noah Benardout," the documents claim.
Noah's parents are suing Viacom and the production company for "Lights Out With David Spade" for the wrongful death, and are asking for economic damages suffered, related to loss of earnings and loss of financial support from Noah, funeral and burial expenses, hospital and medical bills, and loss of personal property.
