Kate Snow’s Sunday NBC Nightly News Successor Revealed

One month after Kate Snow announced her departure from the Sunday edition of NBC Nighty News, the network has named her successor.

As first reported by our sister pub Variety, Hallie Jackson — NBC News’ senior Washington correspondent — will replace Snow at the anchor desk beginning April 7.

“Hallie is an exceptional journalist and an extraordinary broadcaster, representing the very best of NBC News,” said Janelle Rodriguez, NBC News’ executive vice president of programming, in a statement. “She is a natural fit to anchor our flagship newscast on Sundays.”

Jackson — who joined NBC News in 2014 as a correspondent covering Ted Cruz’ presidential campaign — will continue hosting her two-hour streaming show, Hallie Jackson Now, on NBC News Now.

Snow left NBC Nightly News to focus full-time on her weekday streaming show NBC News Daily.

“Our audience on NBC News Daily is growing fast,” Snow said in mid-February, “and I have decided, after a lot of thought, to focus my attention Monday through Friday on that role.”

Snow joined NBC News in 2010 and has won five Emmys during her tenure. The first award recognized her work in the 2016 Dateline episode “The Cosby Accusers Speak,” in which Snow sat down with 27 of Bill Cosby’s accusers for the first time. Her second Emmy came in 2018 for another Dateline sit-down in which she spoke with Andrea Constand, who previously had not spoken publicly about her accusations that led to Cosby’s conviction. In total, she’s been nominated for seven Emmy Awards.
