Karst Conservancy offering 2-day wilderness first aid course this month in Bedford

The Indiana Karst Conservancy (IKC), a non-profit land trust, is offering a two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course, through SOLO Wilderness and Emergency Medicine School, as part of their education, outreach and safety program, according to a press release.

The class, on Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30, near Bedford at Lawrence County Independent Schools, 223 Old Farm Road, is taught by experienced local Bloomington outdoors people with Wilderness First Responder certifications. It is 16 hours (2 days) of classroom instruction with hands-on learning scenarios ranging from crisis response, patient assessment, physical trauma, environmental issues, bleeding control, and how to handle medical emergencies.

This class is ideal for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors or helps lead outdoor activities. Due to some cancellations, there are now openings in the class.

The IKC is offering the class at a substantial discount. Classes typically cost over $200 but the IKC is charging $150 to cover costs and has included an optional add-on CPR class Saturday evening for $35. Complimentary primitive camping is available nearby.

For detailed course information and to register for the event, please go to https://IKCWildernessFirstAid2023.eventbrite.com to begin the registration process. Once your registration is reviewed, payment options will be sent in an email.
