Jourdan Thibodeaux kicks off first night of Festival International

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – With a rich history rooted in Cajun music tradition, Jourdan Thibodeaux et les Rôdailleurs blends folk, blues and traditional French songs to create a unique experience.

A native of Louisiana, Jourdan Thibodeaux grew up immersed in the Cajun music scene. He began honing his fiddle skills at a young age and developed a deep appreciation for the cultural heritage of the region. With influence from Cajun legends like Dennis McGee and Canray Fontenot, Thibodeaux’s own style began to take shape, combining traditional Cajun melodies with his own creative flair.

Thibodeaux formed les Rôdailleurs in the early 2000s. “Rôdailleurs” refers to a group of musicians who gather for jam sessions, which reflects the band’s spontaneous and dynamic approach to making music. They have released several albums featuring lively fiddle tunes, soulful accordion melodies, and rhythmic guitar and percussion, creating a lively and infectious sound that drives listeners to dance and celebrate.

The band has performed at various festivals and venues across Louisiana, from Festivals Acadiens et Créoles to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, they know venues big and small. Thibodeaux is kicking off Festival International in 2024 on Wednesday, April 24 starting at 6:30 p.m. and taking the stage on Scene Laborde Earles Law Firm Fais Do Do.
