JOPLIN, Mo. — Several Joplin restaurants are about to make their national debut on Food Network.

They’ll be featured Friday night (4/19) at 8:00 p.m. in the new series, “Best Bite In Town.”

The show’s executive producer is Guy Fieri and it’s hosted by Food Network veteran, Noah Cappe.

“For years, I’ve been rollin’ out to towns big and small lookin’ for joints serving up amazing dishes. But no matter how many miles I put on the Camaro, I just can’t fit ‘em all into Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. So, I’ve called in my buddy Noah Cappe and the Bite Club to help me out and they are hittin’ the road to find some killer small-town dishes on their own,” said Fieri. “But of course, I’ve gotta mix it up a bit, so we’re throwin’ in a dash of competition!”

In each episode, Noah assembles a Bite Club, featuring two chefs including, Tiffani Faison, Shota Nakajima, Joe Sasto, Aarti Sequeira, and Jet Tila.

Three of the nation’s best chefs visit two restaurants and try two dishes at each one. They then pick their favorite, with the top three dishes going to three judges who determine the “Best Bite In Town.”

“This series is a whole new ride with every episode culminating in a flavor-packed showdown highlighting the epic eats that these communities are serving up. It’s more than just finding the best bite in town; it’s about celebrating the heart and flavor of each community,” said Cappe.

There are six Joplin restaurants competing for the best dish, which include Big R’s BBQ, Blackstone Gastropub, Finn’s, Hungry Monkey Island Style Eats, Ghetto Tacos, and Han The Sushi Man.

Two of the dishes put forward in the competition are the candied pork belly appetizer from Blackstone, and the cattleman’s burger from Big R’s.

“The show really highlights what Joplin has to offer and it shows different varieties of food that are in the competition. It really shows our spirit as a small town and that we can just compete in a fun way,” said Christy Cox, owner of Big R’s BBQ.

“What I would really like to see is for everybody to try all three respective dishes and kind of give their own best bite in town and if they’ve picked the winner correctly,” said Damien Tiregol, co-owner of Blackstone Gastropub.

You can catch new episodes of Best Bite In Town every Friday this spring at 8:00 p.m (CDT).
