John Travolta Honors Former“ ”Costar Bruce Willis at “Pulp Fiction” Event: ‘He’s Still Here’

The actor recalled getting into a "groove" with costar Bruce Willis

John Travolta has happy memories of working with costar Bruce Willis.

On April 18, the actor, 70, hit the red carpet at the TCL Chinese Theatre for TCM's celebration in honor of 30 years of Pulp Fiction with his daughter Ella, 24, there to support him.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight and Extra, he reflected on the life and legacy of his now-retired costar Willis, 69.

"Bruce and I had a history. We did Look Who's Talking together, and we had a massive success with it," Travolta told ET of the action star. "So we were [friends]. We had been on vacation together, Kelly [Preston] and I with Bruce and Demi [Moore]. So this was not new. We were comfortable with each other."

In Pulp Fiction, Travolta said, he and Willis were at ease working together because of how there was "real, genuine care" between them.

"It was very easy to be with each other and relax, you know?" Travolta added. "And there was real genuine care. And we felt lucky we were in a very special movie."

Travolta also revealed to Extra one of his favorite moments shooting the film was with Willis — even though the scene was "when he had to kill me when I was on the toilet."

"When I called him 'Punchy,' the world watching John Travolta call him 'Punchy' when he has his whole lineage of action-hero stuff. It was really fun," the actor joked, adding that he couldn't believe it been three decades since the film first came out.

"I can't. Yet, I can. Because it feels like no time," he said. "L.A. doesn't age really from the time I came here when I was 18 years old till now, so in some ways it feels like no time, and yet it matches the classic vibe the movie has — timeless."

"I do miss him. I'll always miss him. He's still here and his daughter is here to represent him, just like my daughter is here to represent me," Travolta added to Extra, reflecting on his relationship with Willis at the time of film's release in 1994, "...By the time we did Pulp Fiction, we were in a groove."

Although Willis — whose diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia was revealed in 2023 — wasn't able to attend the TCM event, there was plenty of love in the room for the retired actor from his family.

The actor's wife Emma Heming Willis and his daughter Tallulah Belle Willis were both in attendance. The special showing of the film also brought out fellow costars John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, and Samuel L. Jackson.
