John Stamos expecting first child at 54, though he and other 'Fuller House' patriarchs are reaching the age of grandparenthood

John Stamos is young at heart. The former bachelor and Full(er) House star is not only walking down the aisle soon, but also Uncle Jesse is about to be a dad. With the announcement that he is expecting a child with 31-year-old Caitlin McHugh, the American heartthrob is the latest Fuller House actor to find his inner family man.

Jackie and Claudia Oshry of The Morning Breath pointed out the somewhat unusual timeline of the cast. The oldest of the bunch — Stamos, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier — are all practically newlyweds, while the young’uns — Mary-Kate Olsen, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Lori Loughlin — are well into family life.

Coulier married his longtime love, Melissa Bring, just three years ago, and Saget is bidding farewell to his bachelorhood alongside Stamos — the comedian is engaged to food and travel blogger Kelly Rizzo.

Ahead of the guys, Bure and Loughlin both gave birth to their first child in 1998, despite the 12-year age difference between the women. Years later, Bure has already had a child compete on The Voice, while Loughlin’s daughters are next in line for celebrity offspring stardom.

Despite the show’s patriarchs waiting a few extra years before settling down, viewers at home can trust that Full House’s kitschy family values will translate well into real life for Stamos, Saget, and Coulier — and fellow babysitters are boundless!
