John Oliver Doesn’t Want Any More Clintons in the White House

On Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, John Oliver splashed some cold water on speculation about the Clintons’ political ambitions these days. “Do you really want another Clinton? The answer is no,” he said. “You can get a lot done — you can arguably get more done in the world outside of politics.”

Of course, John Oliver’s got a personal reason to be leery about multigenerational, dynastic transfers of authority. The British expatriate has lived and worked in the United States for years, and he doesn’t mind poking fun at his home country’s royalty on Last Week Tonight. He once joked about Queen Elizabeth’s propensity for wearing elaborate hats, saying her job could be just as easily performed by a Styrofoam mannequin head.

John’s thoughts on famous first daughter Ivanka Trump aren’t any brighter, as evidenced by Andy Cohen asking him what her Real Housewives “tagline” would be. “She kind of lowers you into the sunken place,” he says, referring to the hit movie Get Out‘s state of hypnotic submission. “Very soft, very welcome, very chilling. Just kind of, ‘Everything’s going to be fine.'”
