Jill Duggar Says Family Is Safe After Tornado 'Ripped Through' Their Area: 'Missed Us by a Few Miles'

“Thankfully we are ok, but friends and some family weren’t so fortunate," the reality star wrote on her Instagram Stories over Memorial Day weekend

Jill Duggar Dillard is feeling grateful after a close shave.

The reality star, 33, confirmed in a post on her Instagram Stories on May 26 that she and her family were safe after their area was affected by the tornadoes and storms that caused destruction in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Texas over Memorial Day weekend.

“Like most other ppl in our area of NW Arkansas/NW Oklahoma, we were awake through much of the night as tornadoes ripped through our area,” Dillard wrote. “Thankfully we are ok, but friends and some family weren’t so fortunate. We are praying for those affected.”

The former TLC star added that the tornadoes “missed us by a few miles.”

At least 19 people, including four children, have been killed in the tornado storms, according to CNN. Around 100 people were also injured with many homes destroyed and power outages in the affected areas.

Eight deaths caused by the storms were reported in Arkansas, state governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed in a news conference on May 26. Seven storm-related deaths were also reported in Texas, two in Oklahoma and two in Kentucky, NBC News reported.

Dillard’s social media update comes after she revealed her pregnancy loss last month.

Jill announced in a joint Instagram post with her husband Derick Dillard that she’d had a stillbirth with their fourth child on April 13.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the stillbirth of our beautiful baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard," the couple wrote. "Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero."

"From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby," they continued. "Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world."

"We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie. 😭🩷,” the couple added.

Jill and Derrick also share sons Israel David, 9, Samuel Scott, 6, and Frederick “Freddy” Michael, 22 months.
